Why Africa must enbrace Open Source

I think its about time Africans started getting into the technological race by embracing open source.The simple reason i believe this to be imperative is that with the emergence of the open source movement as a viable competitor to Microsoft,Africa can ride on the back of such an opportunity to emerge as a powerful software house.
So i think governments should without delay start adding the tutorials of open source softwares to the curriculum of their schools to prepare their kids for the future of IT,which i believe is about to be taken by storm by the open source movement.
